CEC FC Competitive

Esko Soccer offers a competitive soccer season for boys (U13-U18) in our area.

The 2026 season will act as the transition year for CEC FC. It has taken both Esko Soccer and Cloquet Soccer a lot of time preparing for this merge. While CYSA and ESA continue to collaborate and set up CEC FC as a sole soccer league for the 2027 season, both clubs felt it was best to proceed with the 2026 season with Competitive U13+ boys to register with Esko Soccer and Tournament Only U9-U12 boys to register with Cloquet Soccer, just for this one year.

All administrative and organizing will be handled jointly between Cloquet and Esko soccer programs.

Tryouts

Tryouts for u13-u18 players will be held on Saturday, November 1. Times are TBD and will be communicated when the date gets closer.

Any u12 CEC FC player who registers for Tournament Only through Cloquet will also have opportunity to come to tryouts for the possibility of making a Competitive team.

U9-U12

U9-U12 boys will register for tournament Only with Cloquet Soccer, just for this one year. Keep in mind, all admin and oversee will be done jointly between Esko and Cloquet Soccer.

Ages

CEC FC is made up with players at least 8 years old (2017 birth year) up to age 17.

It is suggested that players have played at least one year of recreational soccer, have an understanding of the game, and a competitive drive.

When

Season begins in February with indoor practices. Depending on tournaments the teams select, the season will end at some point in June.

Tournaments and League Play

Teams will have the opportunity to play in local tournaments as well as tournaments outside of our area, requiring 1-2 night hotel stays and other travel-related expenses.

Depending on age level, teams are guaranteed 3-4 tournaments. Anything beyond that will be the financial responsibility of the team and players.

In addition to tournaments, Competitive CEC FC teams will participate in league play, playing other teams in cities or Northland area, depending what teams choose to do.

Practices

Practices are held approximately twice per week based on field/indoor space availability. These practices can occur at local area school gyms, outdoor fields in Esko and Cloquet, as well as Esko and Cloquet turf.

Play Time

In competitive soccer, playing time is not equal. The amount of time players play will be up to the coaches.

Uniforms

CEC FC boys will be required to purchase a uniform kit at time of registration. (Home jersey, away jersey, shorts, socks.)

These uniforms will be used for the 2026 and 2027 seasons.

Commitment

Players must be willing to attend AT LEAST 75% of practices and 90% of tournament games. Players must commit to their team to ensure appropriate roster sizes for all tournaments.

Player should want to attend practice / games on their own accord with a positive attitude and respect for coaches.
